01 February 2006 [01:29] - TODAY.AZ
The World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) is concerned of new accusations brought against the chair of the Yeni Fikir Youth Movement Ruslan Bashirli and member of the movement Ramin Taghiyev.

As APA informs citing the Secretariat of the organization: "We were informed by Human Rights defence organizations of Azerbaijan that that new charges have been pressed against Ruslan Bashirli who's currently in preliminary detention. According to the information, R.Bashirli has been recently accused of "illegal entrepreneurship" (Article 192 of the Penal Code). According to the article, the running of a business (entrepreneurship) without registration of license is punished by fine, limitation of liberty up to 3 years, or imprisonment up to 5 years. However this should not apply to a non-profit organisation".

OMCT citing the lawyer of R.Bashirli, who said that R.Bashirli and R.Taghiyev were currently being kept in Bayil Prison in a very cold cell, is gravely concerned by the general climate of harassment against the members of the Yeni Fikir Youth Movement.
