The Turkish foreign policy is aimed at "acquiring friends among adjacent states. Ankara is deeply interested in the territorial integrity of the neighboring countries," the Turkish Prime Minister Redjep Tayyib Erdogan said in a statement on 17 January 2006.

"Territorial integrity, internal security and political stability in the states, bordering with Turkey are in the focus of the Ankara attention," the head of the Turkish Cabinet of Ministers said noting the course aimed at the benefit of the neighbors themselves, Trend reports.

According to Erdogan, Turkey is located in one of the "hottest" regions of the globe, stressing that "no one is entitled to refuse the dialogue and diplomacy, as the tool for the problems elimination".

"Turkey has historically a cultural experience, enabling to preserve peace and we want both our close friends and our remote acquaintances use this experience," the head of the Turkish government concluded.
