Opposition party to mull participation in Parliament sessions

17 January 2006 [11:43] - TODAY.AZ
The opposition Musavat Party executives next month will discuss the participation of the party members, who gained deputy mandates at the November 6 parliament poll, in the work of the Milli Majlis.

Opposition parties that gained seats at the elections earlier warned they might refuse to attend parliamentary sessions, charging fraud at the polls.

The Musavat Assembly, in its meeting, will also consider the party members’ representation in the senior electoral body, the Central Election Commission (CEC), and joining the repeat polls in 10 constituencies, due on May 13, deputy chairman of the party, Arif Hajily, told AssA-Irada.

9 political parties received votes at the elections. The ruling New Azerbaijan party gained the majority in the legislature, with 56 deputy mandates, while opposition representatives got just a handful of seats.
