President of Azerbaijan comments arrests of high ranking officials

"All attempts for upheaval will be prevented hence," said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in an interview to the Russian First TV channel.

Regarding the coup attempt the president was strict: "What would happen, if they [arrested] achieved their goal, at least six or seven people imaging themselves as president? I cannot name them, but you know them. What would they do?"

"They would shoot each other. It would be return to the early 1990s, when legal power was overthrown, gangs terrorized the population on the streets. I prevented this attempt. We will decisively prevent it hence," noted Aliyev.
