Terry Davis and Dmitrij Rupel met with the opposition representatives

The Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis met with representatives of the opposition in Baku Information Office of the Council of Europe yesterday.
The head of the Musavat Party Isa Gambar, ADP vice-chairman Sardar Jalaloghlu, PFPA (r) chairman Ali Karimli, founder of the “Yeni Siyaset” bloc Etibar Mammadov, chairman of the National Unity (NUM) movement Lala Shovkat Hajiyeva participated in the meeting.

According to the information given to APA by the founder of the “Yeni Siyaset” bloc Etibar Mammadov, upcoming parliamentary elections, election legislation, elector’s lists were discussed in the meeting.

The influence of the mass media to the election process and the black PR campaign were also discussed.

The first deputy of the ADP chairman Sardar Jalaloghlu informed that abolishing of the immunity of the chairman of the party Rasul Guliyev whose candidacy was registered from the Khatai fourth election constituency # 36 by the general prosecutor is an unlawful step. He also presented the reference of the “Election Bloc of Barristers” consisting of famous barristers of the republic signed by 58 persons in connection with the question to Terry Davis. The CE Secretary General said that he will inform the president about these problems in the meeting with him.

The OSCE chairman Dmitrij Rupel met with PFPA (r) chairman Ali Karimli, one of the founders of “YeS” Eldar Namazov, ANIP chairman Ali Aliyev, CSP chairman Sabir Rustamkhanli and NUM chairman Lala Shovkat Hajiyeva.

According to the information given to APA by one of the founders of “YeS” Eldar Namazov, the pre-election situation, elector’s lists, composition of election commissions and etc. were discussed in the meeting. The administrations of the OSCE Baku office and long-term observation mission also participated in the meeting.
