Cable televisions to be set up in Azerbaijan

According to the chairman of the National Council of Teleradio Nushiravan Maharramli, there is a necessity for establishment of new cable television channels, while only 1 cable channel currently functions in the country. The establishment of new channels with low subscription fee will allow restricting the broadcasting of the foreign channels in the territory of Azerbaijan.

Maharramli said that 15 private television channels currently operate in the country with 11 in the regions and 4 in Baku. 2 state televisions, as well 8 private and 2 state radios broadcast their programs.
