Ilham Aliyev: “Our relations with Russia have reached the level of strategic partnership”

The head of state said that there is fruitful investment environment for foreign capitals in Azerbaijan. “As the result of investment policy we pursued 24 billion foreign capitals has been invested to the economy of Azerbaijan in the past 10 years. That is one of the highest indications for the volume of the capital per person in the CIS territory. According to the predictions of the International Monetary Fund, the economic growth in Azerbaijan will be 18% this year. That is the highest indication not only in the region but in the whole world”.

The President told the forum participants that the level of the poverty reduced 9% in the country within the past 18 months. According to him, despite of the important measures taken for reducing the level of poverty this problem still causes concern.

“I am sure the tempos of economic growth will be stable and Azerbaijan will be powerful state for its economy. The economic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are developing most intensively. We came to agreement with President Putin in early 2004 on reaching the trade turnover between our countries for two times and our predictions realized in less than two years. The growth of the trade turnover has been 50-60% since that time. However, the main thing is that the existing potential of our countries provides us to increase this indication more strongly. We are satisfied with the level of development of cooperation between our countries and these relations have already reached the level of strategic partnership. This meets the interests of both Russia and Azerbaijan”.
