14 June 2005 [09:04] - TODAY.AZ
Council of Europe Venice Commission (VC) 63rd plenary meting started in Venice, Italy the day before yesterday.
The report made out by VC experts on the Election Code of Azerbaijan will be discussed in agenda of yesterday’s meeting.

It must be noted that, the project was made by the suggestions of VC and OSCE Human Rights and Democratic Institutions Bureau. Azerbaijani government representatives and the VC experts held consulting twice on the project in Strasbourg. However, Azerbaijan didn’t agree with one part of the suggestions, the main suggestion concerning amendment to the election commissions was not included into the project at all. It must be reminded that, Council of Europe offers the equal number of authority, opposition and non-parties in the structure of the election commissions.

In the end of today’s meeting the decision on this matter will be adopted. The document will be sent to Council of Europe Committee of Ministers and Parliamentary Assembly as well as Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan.
