General director of PTV to be elected this week

Muradov said that a meeting of the Broadcasting Council scheduled for 15 April 2005 will define the date of the final gathering convened to elect the General Director.  

"The meeting, earlier scheduled for 11 April was adjourned as some members of the Broadcasting Council were out. I hope the elections to complete by the end of the week," Muradov noted.      

Five candidates ballot for the post of the General Director of the PTB. These are Elshad Guliyev, the former head of the State Radio and Television Broadcasting Company AzTV, MP Ismayil Omarov, and Aladdain Asadzada, employees of AzTV, Ilham Safarov, the General Director of the Internews Azerbaijan and Ramiz Asgar, the General Secretary of the Union of Journalists.
