Turkmen president to visit Azerbaijan soon

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan soon, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said.

Meredov made the remarks at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku July 19.

Baku and Ashgabat are interested in further political dialogue, developing cooperation on regional and international platforms, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The sides also expressed their interest in expanding contacts between the governments of the two countries at various levels.

A meeting of Azerbaijani and Turkmen Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov and Rashid Meredov was held in Baku July 19.

The agenda included the issues of developing cooperation in the political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian spheres.

A trilateral meeting of Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers will also be held in Baku on July 19. This will be the fourth ministerial meeting in this format.

The first tripartite meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers was held in Baku on May 26, 2014, the second meeting in Ashgabat on January 29, 2015, and the third meeting in Antalya on August 28, 2015.
