President Aliyev approves funding for improvement of water supply in 136 residential areas

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to provide funding to improve water supply for irrigation and drinking in 136 residential areas across the country, Azertac reported.

Under the presidential order, 10.5 million manats is allocated from the Presidential Contingency Fund to Azerbaijan Irrigation and Water Industry Company.

The funds will be directed for digging 150 sub-artesian wells to improve irrigation of cultivable lands and supply of drinking water for nearly 375,000 people in 136 residential areas in 36 cities and districts.

Earlier it was reported that the provision of 270 villages with modular wastewater treatment plants should be completed in 2017.

The construction of these treatment plants in 170 villages will be provided through the “Azersu” OJSC and in other 100 villages through the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
