The Baku Forum is a good platform to discuss issues facing the world.
UN High Representative Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser made the remark while addressing the Youth Event running in the capital as part of the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations.
"We have gathered in Baku to share our views on current important issues of the world concern," he said. "The international community must live in peace. Encouraging of the dialogue must be our main goal."
He said the youth is a catalyst for changes, adding that mainly these young people can better promote and encourage the intercultural dialogue.
Azerbaijan’s Youth and Spots Minister Azad Rahimov, in turn, said that the meeting of intelligent young people from around the world in Baku is very important in term of resolving issues facing the world today.
The minister said that Azerbaijan takes significant measures for the young people, adding that the country supports initiatives towards raising the role of youth in the international arena.
Rahimov mentioned that this year, Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second largest city, has been declared the European Youth Capital. “The country hosts different international events including the Scouts Forum. All these are indication of the actions undertaken in the youth field,” he noted.
The minister emphasized that the world is currently faces a big problem of refugees and migrants.
The participation of young people in conflict and strengthening the activities of terrorist groups throughout the world represent a major threat to peace and stability, and the international community fails to take effective measures to combat these phenomena, Rahimov said.
The 7th UNAOC Global Forum is being held in Baku on April 25-27 attended by many officials. The three-day forum will feature meetings with high-ranking officials and about 30 sessions.
The Baku Declaration is expected to be adopted during the UNAOC Global Forum.
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on July 24, 2015 to create an organizing committee for holding the 7th UNAOC Global Forum in Baku.
