Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has become familiar with military and defense products of Kazakhstan production.
As part of his official trip to Kazakhstan, Hasanov visited one of the country’s most reputable military industrial complexes “Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering”, which produces night and thermal vision optical devices for defense industry of Kazakhstan.
He also visited a military base of the Kazakh armed forces, where he viewed a technical and arms exhibition.
Hasanov also visited Kazakhstan National Defense University during the Kazakhstan trip. He viewed the university’s training auditoriums and Imitation Modelling Center.
The National Defense University is the only military institution in Central Asia that trains military personnel for strategic, operational and tactical management, and has Master’s and doctoral programs.
The university's training programs include military and public administration, maintenance management, military logistic management, moral-building and legal management and military education management.
Azerbaijanis and Kazakhs are both Turkic-speaking people and share close historical, religious, and cultural ties. Both are littoral states of the Caspian Sea and possess a common maritime border. Currently, over 80,000 Azerbaijani people live in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan view each other as major allies and partners in Central Asia and Transcaucasia.
Diplomatic relations were established on August 27, 1992. Both countries are full members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Turkic Council, the Joint Administration of Turkic Arts and Culture, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
