President Aliyev visits Zagatala, Sheki

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev arrived in the country’s Zagatala region on a visit on November 4.

The head of state laid flowers at a statue of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city of Zagatala.

Later, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the newly-reconstructed Zagatala-Danachi-Ashaghi Chardakhlar highway.

A total of 5.5 million manats were allocated from the President’s Contingency Fund for the reconstruction of the road in February, 2013.

The reconstruction work started in June, 2013. Today, the 24.5 km section of the 28km-long highway is ready for use. The fourth technical degree highway, which is 10 meters in width, was covered with 10-centimeter asphalt.

The highway links 12 residential areas with the total population of 15,600 people.

The president was also informed about the reconstruction and repair work in the 28 May and Garabagh streets in the city of Zagatala. The work is the continuation of a project on restoration and reconstruction of the historical center of the city of Zagatala, which was implemented in 2011. The vast majority of buildings in this area were built in the 19th century.

The head of state was also informed about the expansion and renovation of a highway, which passes through Yukhari Tala, Ashaghi Tala villages in Zagatala region and the city of Zagatala. The length of the road is 4 km.

President Aliyev has also inaugurated the Qizilgul orphanage-kindergarten, the construction of which was initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The building of the 100-seat kindergarten occupies an area of 1,280 square meters. The orphanage-kindergarten will have five groups for children from 1-6 years of age. All conditions have been created here. The building houses teachers room, medical point, reception room, bedroom, computer room, gym, game and music halls.

The orphanage-kindergarten will employ 28 teachers. There are wide conditions for children’s recreation and entertainment. All rooms were supplied with necessary equipment. Special attention will be paid to ensuring intellectual, physical and mental development of children, discovering their talents and abilities, protecting their health and building their communication with people.

As part of the visit to Zagatala, President Aliyev also opened the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The building, which construction started in 2013, occupies a total area of 2,765 square meters. The Heydar Aliyev Center houses a 350-seat conference hall, cinema, culinary and painting rooms, a sculpture studio and printing workshop. Extensive landscaping work was carried out and a green area was laid out here.

A bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev was installed in the foyer of the building. There is a rich exhibition here, which features books, photos, honorary diplomas and other documents reflecting the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

President Aliyev met with local residents.

After completing his visit to Zagatala, the head of state arrived in Shaki.

Head of Shaki City Executive Authority Elkhan Usubov informed the president that the large-scale landscaping work was carried out and green areas were laid out in the Heydar Aliyev Park.
