Center of mountain training launched in frontal region

Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has put into operation a new educational center of mountain training, built in the frontal region.

The defense ministry reported that having familiarized with the infrastructure of the center, Hasanov visited topographic, engineering, firing and sports camps created in the territory.

He also examined the sites for performing practical shooting from mortars and small arms, mining and tactical exercises, as well as survival in the mountains, climbing, overcoming water obstacles and other sites.

Specialized instructors in the center will conduct for the personnel of the military units deployed in the mountainous territories and areas with difficult access, educational training maximally similar to combat conditions that fully meet the requirements of the terrain.

Currently, the command and staff military games are underway in the country. The drills have started on September 6 and will last till September 13.

Up to 65,000 servicemen, 700 armored vehicles, 500 units of rocket and artillery troops, 40 aircraft, 50 helicopters of the Air Force, and 20 Navy ships and boats, etc. are involved in command and staff military exercises that will end on September 13.

Azerbaijan holds regular military drills to check the training level and fighting capability of the army.
