Turkey is proud of Azerbaijan’s success, Yenialanya newspaper reported May 18 citing Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
He said Azerbaijan has achieved success in all spheres in recent years.
Cavusoglu added that the First European Games in Azerbaijan will be held at a high level.
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
Furthermore, Turkish foreign minister said that Ankara is against the use of double standards in respect to Azerbaijan, adding that Turkey will support the country in all areas of activity.
Cavusoglu also urged Armenia to withdraw from Azerbaijan’s occupied lands.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
“Normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is possible only after the liberation of Azerbaijani lands,” said Cavusoglu.
