President Ilham Aliyev hold meetings

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by a member of the British Parliament and Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry.

The head of state said Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom enjoyed high-level bilateral relations, adding these relations were dynamically developing.

President Ilham Aliyev hailed active involvement of British companies in the development of Azerbaijan`s non-energy sector, describing this as a good sign of partnership.

The head of state stressed the importance of Charles Hendry`s participation in BakuTel-2014” Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition.

The President of Azerbaijan said there was great potential for cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas, industrial, agricultural, tourism and other fields.

Charles Hendry said he was pleased to be attending BakuTel-2014” Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition. He expressed confidence that cooperation in this sector will be continued. Charles Hendry said British companies were interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields, particularly metro construction.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received newly-elected Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao.

Azerbaijan`s huge achievements in the information and communication technologies sector were hailed during the meeting.

The importance of annual “BakuTel-2014” Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition and growing interest in the event was emphasized.

The parties expressed confidence that the exhibition will contribute to the expansion of international cooperation in this area.

The sides also discussed cooperation prospects.
