After the meeting in an expanded format, the signing ceremony of Azerbaijani-Vietnamese documents was held.

“The Agreement on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam” was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Foreign Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh.

“The Convention on the elimination of double taxation of incomes and property and prevention of tax evasion between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam” was signed by Tax Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fazil Mammadov and Finance Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dinh Tien Dung.

After the meeting in a limited format, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang held a meeting in an expanded format with the participation of delegations.

The heads of state made statements at the meeting.

President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang recalled the visit of great leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam back when he was represented in the government of the Soviet Union. He said the people of Vietnam were very appreciative of great leader Heydar Aliyev’s attention to Vietnam.

The sides also exchanged views on different aspects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, including the cooperation within international organizations and the expansion of cooperation in energy, science, investment and other spheres.

After the welcoming ceremony, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang held a meeting in a limited format.

During the meeting the presidents pointed to the successful development of political, economic and other relations between the two countries. The heads of state highlighted the importance of President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam from the standpoint of a further development of these relations and noted that there was great potential for the expansion of these ties.

The sides also exchanged views on bilateral, international and other issues of mutual interest.

A guard of honor was arranged in a square front of the palace decorated with state flags of Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

President of the Socialist Republic Vietnam Truong Tan Sang and his wife Mai Thi Hanh warmed welcomed President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva.

The military orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Vietnam.

The chief of the guard of honor reported to President Ilham Aliyev. The heads of state reviewed the guard of honor.

The government officials of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were introduced to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduced to President of the Socialist Republic Vietnam Truong Tan Sang.

Then the heads of state and their spouses posed for official photos.

A guard of honor was arranged for President Ilham Aliyev at Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva were met by senior state and government officials of Vietnam.

Then a brief protocol talk took place.
