US Senator issues proclamation on Azerbaijan's Independence Day

John Whitmire issued a Proclamation No. 266 on the occasion of Independence Day of Azerbaijan.

The proclamation states the facts about proclamation of independence of Azerbaijan on October 18, 1991, its subsequent recognition by the United States, as well as notes the close relations between the United States and Azerbaijan, recognizes the contributions of Azerbaijanis in the U.S. to the ethnic diversity of the country and Azerbaijanis around the world for spreading freedom and democracy in the Caucasus. Senator John Whitmire represents the 15th district of Texas, covering a large part of Houston.
