Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Honduras and Colombia during his visit to New York to attend the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly, a report of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service said on Thursday.
The current state of bilateral relations between the countries and the ways of developing cooperation were discussed during the meeting. The importance of augmenting efforts in this direction was also underscored.
The importance of developing cooperation within the framework of international organizations was especially noted during the meetings.
During the meetings Mammadyarov informed his colleagues about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressed the importance of its early settlement, for which it is first necessary to withdraw Armenian troops from the occupied territories and return the people, who became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of the ethnic cleansing policy, to their homes.
