
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov has met his Afghan counterpart Ghulam Mujtaba Patang to discuss how to boost cooperation between the two countries` law enforcement authorities.
Mr. Usubov hailed Azerbaijan-Afghanistan relations as successfully developing. He expressed confidence the Afghan Minister`s visit would give a push to boosting the bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Usubov highlighted the activities of the Ministry.
He spoke of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, particularly of occupation of Azerbaijan`s lands as a result of the Armenian military aggression.
Mr. Usubov also praised Afghanistan`s support of Azerbaijan`s just position on the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute.
He emphasized the experience of Afghanistan in fighting against illegal drug trafficking and terrorism, saying Azerbaijan could benefit from it.
Mr. Mujtaba Patang thanked the Azerbaijani government for its contribution to re-establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits, saying “they would give a push to developing our relations”.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Pakistan and Afghanistan Dashgin Shikarov, and ambassador of Afghanistan Shaker Kargar were also present at the meeting.
Prior to the meeting, Mujtaba Patang visited the Alley of Honors to lay flowers at the tomb of national leader, founder and architect of modern Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev. He also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
He visited the Alley of Martyrs to lay flowers at the graves of Azerbaijani heroes and at the Eternal Flame monument.
