Egyptian media publishes Azerbaijani ambassador's interview

Egypt-based popular al-Jumhuriya newspaper has published Azerbaijani Ambassador Shahin Abdullayev`s interview.
The Ambassador has briefed on violent attacks, territorial claims made by Armenia against Azerbaijan on 20 January 1990, later called as Bloody January events and support of the Soviet Union leaders to aggressor country, the Embassy told. The Ambassador stressed all these aggressive attacks and slaughters made against people who yearned for the independence on Baku`s squares and streets, deaths of hundreds innocent people have only strengthened freedom wish of the Azerbaijani nation.

Abdullayev noted, however, as a result, independent Azerbaijani state was established based on democratic principles. Touching upon Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat mentioned European Council`s, NATO`s and other international organizations’ decisions and four resolutions of UN Security Council to put an end to the occupation and withdrawal of forces from occupied Azerbaijani territories immediately and without any claims.
The Ambassador underlined Armenia`s neutral position so forth to these resolutions.

Abdullayev stressed the new position of revolutionary Egypt`s in 2012 have been echoed in the Sharm-al-Sheikh final document of Coordination Bureau of Non-Alignment Movement in the level of Foreign Ministers session. Touching upon Azerbaijan-Egypt economic relations Ambassador stressed the successful partnership in the oil-gas field between the two countries. In the education sphere Abdullayev noted, big projects are realized with the Azerbaijani side is cooperating with the Egyptian scientist, Noble laureate Ahmad Zewail. The scientist has also traveled to Azerbaijan on this occasion. Moreover, Azerbaijan is successfully cooperating with the al-Azhar religious center of the Islamic world.

The Diplomat also mentioned Azerbaijan`s successful economic development, noting the country has turned to a donor state.
