UN Resident Coordinator seeks to bolster cooperation with Baku

The United Nations is interested in boosting cooperation with Azerbaijan, said newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative to Azerbaijan Antonius Broek in his meeting with the country`s minister of emergency situations, colonel-general Kamaladdin Heydarov.

The UN Resident Coordinator expressed confidence that relevant agencies would continue their joint efforts to bolster cooperation. Haydarov said his ministry enjoys cooperation with various UN agencies, adding there were great opportunities to push forward it.

The meeting also saw discussion on the condition of implementation of the joint project by the Ministry and UNDP "Integrating climate change risk management by vulnerable communities in the Greater Caucasus region of Azerbaijan"

The project aims to reduce vulnerability of the mountain communities of the Greater Caucasus region of Azerbaijan to climate change induced water stress and flood hazards by improved water and flood management.
