President Ilham Aliyev inspects construction work at underground parking lot, park, garden and fountain complex in Baku - PHOTOS

 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inspected construction work at an underground parking lot, a park, a garden and a fountain complex between the Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev streets in Baku.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the Head of State of the construction project, which is part of measures to improve and modernize the capital`s infrastructure.

A new parking lot and a park being built between the Fizuli and Mirzaga Aliyev streets will help reduce traffic congestion, and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road.

The underground parking lot will handle up to 4,000 cars. The surface area of the facility will feature a 70,000 sm park, a garden and a fountain complex. Seven underground pedestrian passages will be built here.

An architectural apartment building near the complex will be slid backwards 11 meters without being pulled down.

Recent redevelopment and modernization of the Seaside National Park has increase the number of visitors here, including both Baku residents and foreign guests. This was causing serious traffic congestion and parking problems on the site.

Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the Head of State of construction work. He said the two-storey facility would handle up to 2,000 cars.

The parking lot will have 8 entrances and exits, two of them for cars and six for pedestrians.
