Baltic Assembly backs Azerbaijan in Karabakh issue

“Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved in frames of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. We are supporting Azerbaijan`s fair position in settlement of the conflict.” Baltic Assembly (BA) vice-president Raimonds Vejonis told at the meeting of Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) Speaker Ogtay Asadov and the Baltic Delegation visiting Baku to attend the 5th session of GUAM PA.

“In the modern world, occupation of territories of other country by force is unacceptable. We don`t accept occupation of Azerbaijani territories,” the BA vice-president emphasized.
Speaker of Milli Majlis thanked Baltic Assembly for its position in the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Vejonis told the organization he represents is interested in partnership with GUAM, saying “its reputation as an organization increases day-by-day”.

“We try to improve GUAM`s relations with EU and integrate these countries to Europe.”
Mr. Asadov echoed BA vice-speaker`s views, saying “Azerbaijan is also interested in progressing relations with Baltic Assembly both in GUAM; in bilateral and international levels.”
Milli Majlis Chairman noted BA is the first international supporter of GUAM, adding “Baltic Assembly once more proved its positive and fair position by supporting GUAM”.
“Our deputies are closely cooperating in the frames of both organizations.”

Further, they discussed issues such as perspectives of GUAM and Baltic Assembly`s cooperation, integration to Europe, progress of democracy, and a number of other issues of mutual interest.
