Azerbaijani FM meets GUAM Secretary General

On Wednesday, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov received Secretary General of GUAM Valery Chechelashvili, the press service of the ministry reported Trend.

During the meeting they discussed the current situation in the relations between Azerbaijan and the GUAM, projects in the region and within the organization, as well as cooperation of GUAM with other international organizations.

The parties welcomed the decision of the UN General Assembly on cooperation with GUAM and resolution "Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their impact on international peace, security and development", adopted by the organization.

During the meeting Valery Chechelashvili said that in the first half of March 2013 a three-day international seminar on the fight against money laundering will be held in Baku. Participation of GUAM, the EU, the U.S., as well as Europol, Interpol, and other international and regional organizations representatives is expected on the seminar, which will take place with the financial support of the UN Drugs and Crime Office and the U.S.
