Jamestown Foundation to host forum on Azerbaijan

 The Jamestown Foundation will hold a forum entitled “Azerbaijan and Its Partners: Regional, European and Transatlantic” at the University Club of Washington, D.C. on December 17.

The opening speech will be read by the president of the foundation Mr. Glen E. Howard.
The first panel titled “Azerbaijan and the Gas Corridor to Europe” will consist of presentations by Vladimir Socor, the Senior Fellow of Jamestown Foundation on “Azerbaijan-Turkey Trans-Anatolia Project and the Gas Corridor to Europe”, Daniel D. Stein, Senior Advisor from Bureau of Energy Resources of the U.S. Department of State on “U.S. Policy on the Trans-Caspian Pipeline and the EU`s Southern Corridor” , as well as Greg Saunders, Senior Director of International Affairs of BP on “Azerbaijan`s Shah Deniz Gas Project: Opening the Southern Corridor” and Nargiz Gurbanova, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Azerbaijan Republic to the United States on “The US-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership: Deliverables and Prospects”.

The second panel titled “Regional and International Relations” will include presentations by David A. Merkel, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs on “The Implications of Failing to Resolve the Karabakh Conflict”, Alexandros Petersen, Advisor at European Studies department of Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars on “Turkey: Azerbaijan`s Key Regional Partner”. The event will be moderated by the President of Jamestown Foundation Glen E. Howard and the Chairman of Central Asia-Caucasus Institute S. Frederick Starr.
