10 December 2012 [09:57] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met Director of the Continental Europe Department at the French Foreign Ministry Eric Fournier. Mammadyarov spoke of the 19th OSCE Ministerial Council held in Dublin on December 5-7.

The FM noted developing cooperation with the European Union was one of the key priorities for Azerbaijan. They discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO.

Mammadyarov highlighted regional projects. On security issues, the Minister said the fact that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict still remained unsolved was the main source of threat in the region.

“The presence of the Armenian armed forces in the occupied Azerbaijani lands is the main obstacle to finding a solution to the dispute.”

“The start of the withdrawal of the Armenian military from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan will open ample opportunities for the settling the conflict,” Mammadyarov added.
They noted the necessity of organizing meetings between the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as part of efforts to ensure the settlement of the Karabakh problem.
