
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the Summit of the CIS, on Wednesday, state information service Turkmen dovlet khabarlary reported.
The guest thanked for the hearty welcome and conveyed on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev cordial greetings to the Turkmen leader, expressing continued commitment of Azerbaijan to friendly and fraternal relations with neighboring Turkmenistan, based on mutual respect for each other, equality and a common aspiration to progress and development.
President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, in turn, addressed the best wishes to his Azerbaijani counterpart and said that the Turkmen state, firmly pursuing the policy of peace, good neighborliness and wide fruitful cooperation meeting the interests of the general welfare, attaches great importance to strengthening and developing the traditionally friendly relations with Azerbaijan, with which mutually beneficial partnership in priority areas of interstate cooperation has been established.
Noting that the cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan marked high level intergovernmental dialogue and is characterized by mutual support and trust in the international arena, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade said that unity of the goals and objectives, a great resource and economic potential, and the desire for common progress and prosperity are the basis of comprehensive deepening of cooperation.
The status, priorities and perspectives of bilateral cooperation, as well as some other international issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. The sides stressed the high level of trust and understanding of Turkmen-Azerbaijani dialogue and reaffirmed mutual commitment to further enhance and strengthen the fruitful cooperation in all areas at the bilateral level and within international organizations.
A similarity of political views on many priority issues of world politics, which is an important factor in ensuring regional and global security, was stressed.
Azerbaijan supports Turkmenistan's foreign policy initiatives that address the pressing problems of our time, including in the areas of preventive diplomacy, the formation of a new architecture of global energy security, global disarmament, conversion regions of Central Asia and the Caspian basin into an area of ??peace and stability, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan said.
It was noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are reliable trade partners and actively cooperate in various sectors of the economy.
