
Azerbaijan has been recognized as partner in NATO new mission on Afghanistan. The decision to establish a new, post-2014 Afghanistan mission was passed at a meeting of foreign ministers of ISAF - Afghanistan International Security Assistance Force countries in Brussels.
According to press service of the Foreign Ministry, the main duties of new mission will consist of training, advising and assisting. Taking into account its reliable devoted partnership and contributions to ISAF operation
Azerbaijan has been recognized by NATO as a potential operational partner in this mission. From now on, Azerbaijan will participate in the planning process of the new mission.
Along with Azerbaijan, only seven partner states - Australia, Georgia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Finland, Sweden and Montenegro have been recognized as a potential operational partner at the current stage.
