Turkey says BSEC states should boost coop

It is necessary to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) to identify development potential, the chairman of the Grand National Assembly, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Cemil Cicek said at the opening ceremony of the third Black Sea Trade and Investment Forum.

It is necessary to properly take advantage of foreign investors' interest in the Black Sea region and to strengthen the cooperation between the countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) to identify the potential of the region," Cicek said.

He added that Turkey did everything to develop and strengthen cooperation between the member countries of the organization during the presidency of the country since July 1, 2012.

First Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafet Askerov said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing relations between the member countries of the BSEC.

The event was attended by more than 100 Turkish and 300 Azerbaijani companies.

The BSEC was established on June 25, 1992, after heads of 11 states signed the Istanbul Summit Declaration and the Bosphorus Agreement. The purpose of the organization is to support multilateral political and economic initiatives in the Black Sea region. Today the organization brings together 13 countries.
