Azerbaijani President and First Lady awarded with cossacks’ highest awards -PHOTOS

International Academy of the Cossacks, which consists of many organizations of the Cossacks of Ukraine, has awarded the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the highest order of the Cossacks – “Gold Star of the Hero.”

The statement came from head of the Union of Cossacks of Azerbaijan Viktor Mereshkin, who told a news conference about this at the “Interfax-Azerbaijan” News Agency.

At his words, the resolution signed by the president of the International Academy of the Cossacks, Army General Mikhailo Yamnenko, says that the President of Azerbaijan was awarded the “Golden Star of the Hero” for his hard work and assistance to the Cossack people and strengthening friendship between the Azerbaijani and Ukrainian peoples and for the development of science and the revival of traditional, cultural and spiritual values, and for the support of Cossack organizations.

He also pointed out that “Sicheslavskoje Voysko Zaporozhskoje” led by the Cossack general N. Gordienko, nominated for the highest award – “Cossack Glory” – the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva for her charity, kindness, activeness for the benefit of people and for helping the Cossacks of Azerbaijan.
