
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Internal Affairs, colonel-general Ramil Usubov has participated in a regional conference on fight against drug trafficking in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The event held at the initiative of the President of Pakistan, brought together ministers of internal affairs of Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, China, India, Russia, Central Asian countries, as well as heads of the relevant communities combating against drug trafficking.
Mr. Usubov briefed the event participants on the fight against drug smuggling in the country and the gained achievements in the relevant sphere.
Ramil Usubov, as part of his visit, met President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. The President of Pakistan noted that the relations between the two fraternal countries had dynamically developed in all fields, adding Pakistan supports Azerbaijan on all issues.
President Asif Ali Zardari also hailed political relations between the both countries. He stressed importance of developing economic ties between the two countries. The Azerbaijani Interior Minister also met his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik.
They discussed fighting against the organized crimes, drug trafficking, as well as the establishment of working group between the both ministries, enhancement of exchanging of experience and information.
Ramil Usubov invited his counterpart to visit Azerbaijan. The Azeri Minister also met with Foreign Minister of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar, Interior Minister of Turkey Idris Naim Sahin, Interior Minister of Iran Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar and Minister of Counter Narcotics of Afghanistan Zarar Ahmed Moqbel Osmani.
