Nagorno-Karabakh issue mulled at Latvian parliament

The visiting parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan comprised of Aydin Abbasov, Fuad Muradov, Sadagat Veliyeva and headed by head of the Azerbaijan-Latvia interparliamentary friendship group Rovshan Rzayev met Tuesdays with heads and members of political groups Unity, All for Latvia, Party of Reforms, Union of Greens and Peasants and Centre of Consent. High-level of interparliamentary ties, the need for further expansion of economic ties was stressed at the meeting.

Azeri MPs provided information about the long-standing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, underlining destructive position of Armenia and its disregard for Madrid principles, which does not allow to achieve breakthrough in the negotiations.

Later the same day, the Azeri MPs met with speaker of the Latvian parliament Solvita Aboltina
Aboltina noted she would pay an official visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade. The Azerbaijani MPs expressed gratitude to the Latvian government for its supporting the position of Azerbaijan within international organizations. They informed the speaker of Armenians`s intention to launch the airport in the occupied Khojaly. They noted it derails mutual trust and all efforts of the international community.

Discussions also revolved around the Latvian Premier Valdis Dombrovskis` scheduled visit to Azerbaijan.

Present at the meeting was Azerbaijani ambassador Elman Zeynalov.
