
Members of the Azerbaijani parliament`s committee on international relations and interparliamentary ties have met Porfirio Munoz Ledo, chairman of the committee on international relations of the Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Congress.
The discussions focused on prospects for interparliamentary ties, the role of legislative bodies in boosting Azerbaijan-Mexico relationship, bilateral cooperation in economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres.
Chairman of the committee on international relations and interparliamentary ties Samad Seyidov briefed Porfirio Munoz Ledo on the history, structure and international relations of the Azerbaijani parliament. He said the Milli Majlis had close cooperation with several leading international organizations. According to Seyidov, development of relations with the Mexican government and parliament is one of priorities of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.
The committee chairman also spoke of Azerbaijan`s economic potential, the role of the country to ensure peace and security in the region and world, as well as Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Porfirio Munoz Ledo said both chambers of the Mexican parliament were interested in development of relationship with Azerbaijan. He described the fact that one of the central squares in Mexico was named after national leader Heydar Aliyev and one Khojaly as vivid evidence of friendship between the two countries.
