Venice Commission to review Azerbaijan's law 'On Freedom of Religion'

Venice Commission of the Council of Europe is invited to hold an exchange of views with Mr Shahin Aliyev, Head of Department of Legislation and Legal Expertise, Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to examine, with a view to adoption, the draft joint opinion (CDL(2012)066) by the Venice Commission and the OSCE/ODIHR, on the law on freedom of religious faith of Azerbaijan .

The press service of the Venice Commission reported that the Sub-Commission on Fundamental Rights will examine this draft opinion at its meeting on 11 October 2012.

The Draft laws by Ukraine and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as Russian law “On political parties” will be discussed during the session.
