Azerbaijan to announce famous astronauts ‘persona non grata’

Azerbaijan will include the names of American astronaut Charles Duke and Swiss astronaut Cloud Nikolyan in the list of undesirable people as illegally visited the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elman Abdullayev told APA.

He said that the government’s position remains invariable concerning the visit of the astronauts to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by Armenian without the Azerbaijan’s accordance: “The visit of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without special permission is prohibited. The names of people who pay such illegal visit will be included into list of undesirables”.

According to the Armenian media, American astronaut Charles Duke and Swiss astronaut Cloud Nikolyan participated in the conference entitled “Man and the space” held in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh region on September 16. Charles Duke has participated in the expedition “Apollo-16” that carried people to Moon for 5th time. He is the youngest astronaut who stepped on the Moon. Cloud Nicolyan is the only Swiss who entered the space for 4 times.
