
Azerbaijani ambassador to Moldova Namig Aliyev met with newly appointed Interior Minister, Dorin Recean to discuss prospects for bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Mr. Recean praised the current level of Moldova-Azerbaijan relationship, saying “relations between the two countries based on the principle of mutual understanding and are of strategic character.”
“Good relations have been established between the interior ministries of the two countries. Azerbaijan-Moldova relations have been strengthening since the beginning of the current year in all fields”, the Moldovan Minister added.
"Moldova fully supports and wishes restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan," he emphasized.
Recean also stressed the importance of cooperation in law enforcement sphere. For his part, ambassador Aliyev said he would spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening Azerbaijan-Moldova relations. The diplomat praised the fact that relationship between Azerbaijan and Moldova had reached the level of strategic partnership.
The ambassador also informed the Moldovan minister about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict. Then, Azerbaijani ambassador has visited Moldovan Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts where he met with Viktor Melnik, the rector of the Academy.
Ambassador presented the Academy books and magazines about Azerbaijan`s culture, music, cinema, carpet and familiarized himself with the Academy.
The Azerbaijan-Moldova relations had a firm legal foundation - the Agreement on friendship and cooperation signed in November 27, 1997 and the Joint Statement of October 26, 2004 - for further development.
