'Ramil Safarov's extradition and his pardoning meets int'l laws'

The member of the Estonian Parliament Kristiina Ojuland said that Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan and his pardoning were carried out in accordance with international laws. The fact was also approved by European Liberty and Democratic Parties.

“The ALDE Group in the European Parliament decided not to sign the resolution on the case of Ramil Safarov”, the Estonian MP said.

The member of the Estonian parliament also stressed that the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions is the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and that should also be the basis for the position of the EU.

According to Ojuland, “The absence of any results after 20 years of work indicates that the Minsk Group needs a reshuffle.”

Kristiina Ojuland said that the European Parliament remains committed to the developments in the South Caucasus and its members are aware of the huge potential of Azerbaijan. She also stressed that a constructive partnership between Brussels and Baku entails reciprocity and commitment to shared values.
