Azerbaijan, Iran mull bilateral coop

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Iran met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan told Trend on Thursday.

The sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects of their development. Larijani said that Iran is interested in strengthening relations with Azerbaijan, also adding that his country supports the independence and territorial integrity of republic.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister reported about the current status of settlement process of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Minister also noted the importance of the liberation of occupied Azerbaijani territories from Armenian occupying forces. Azerbaijan will ensure its territorial integrity soon or later, he said.

Mammadyarov also raised the issue of Azerbaijani poets Shahriyar Hajizadeh and Farid Huseynov those were detaineed in Iran. Minister expressed the hope that the issue will be resolved soon, noting the great concern of the state and people in connection with this issue.
