Azerbaijan, South Africa eye ties

Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the South African Republic Elkhan Polukhov has paid an official visit to Cape Town, the provincial capital of the Western Cape.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani diplomat met with Speaker of the country`s parliament Walter Sisulu. Polukhov briefed the Speaker on Azerbaijan`s rapid development, the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its grave consequences.

The ambassador stressed the importance of interparliamentary relations, adding these ties play important role in intergovernmental relationship. The diplomat informed Sisulu about the activities of the Azerbaijani Parliament, including its cooperation with other countries` parliaments.

Sisulu noted the importance of cooperation between the two countries. According to him, it is necessary to establish a process of information exchange between the two parliaments and subsequently organize study visits of parliamentarians.
