
Relations of Azerbaijan and Iran are based on mutual respect and neighbourhood policy, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi that on a visit in Baku told journalists on Friday.
"These relationships have evolved over the past 20 years and we are interested that, these relations will always be very good. It can be ups and downs between countries. Representatives of both countries want the same thing, to raise bilateral relations to a higher level. This every semi-annual meetings at the level of deputy foreign ministers are held for this purposes "- he said.
According to the minister, this visit is a extension of these meetings.
"At today's meeting we discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. I invited the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the heads of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Tehran again. Participation of Azerbaijan in this meeting as a new member with new ideas can influence for its success, "- said Araghchi.
The Deputy Minister also said that the visit of the President of Azerbaijan can be a turning point in the development of bilateral relations.
In Baku will be a meeting of the Iran-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in the near future.
