European Parliament hold discussions on Azerbaijan

The European Parliament (EP) hosted discussions on Azerbaijan under “Cooperation in energy sphere” topic. The event initiated by the Office of Communication of Azerbaijan in Brussels has brought together the EP parliamentarians, representatives of various political groups.

After the speeches made by the initiator MPs, member of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region Alain Destexhe spoke of the importance of such events. The meeting highlighted that Azerbaijan has proved its importance in terms of energy security many times. “The European countries have to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan for diversification of energy sources”.

MEPs Edith Herzog, Norbert Neuser, Roger Helmer, Ivo Vajgl and others stated that Azerbaijan is a strong partner of Europe. “Azerbaijan is a close ally of the EU”. The attendees also spoke of Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It was noted that Europe should be more active in the settlement of the conflict.
