Baku presents book on South Caucasus

A book “South Caucasus 2021: Oil, Democracy and Geopolicy” published by the US`s Jamestown Foundation was presented here on Monday. The presentation of the event was organized by the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan (SAM).

Addressing the event, deputy director of SAM Gulshan Pashayeva said that head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev and chairman of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute of the US`s Johns Hopkins University Frederick Starr have written a foreword to the book published with signatures of 13 authors from different countries of the world.

Gulshan Pashayeva informed participants on the book dealing with analysis of interests of super powers in the region, migration issues, developments around the border opening between Turkey and Armenia and others.

Stressing the difficulty of book publication in the United States, vice-rector of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) Fariz Ismayilzade praised the book`s importance for popularization of the country in the world.

Fariz Ismayilzade noted the book was distributed to different think tanks, higher schools and libraries of the US. President of the Jamestown Foundation Glen Howard said that Azerbaijan has an important role in the world from political and economical point of views.
Emphasizing the Azerbaijan`s significant role in the European energy security, Glen Howard shared views on the book.

Deputies of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Samad Seyidov and Asim Mollazade delivered speeches at the event.
