The law on "Culture" has been adopted at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament in the first reading.
Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the Azerbaijani Parliament Nizami Jafarov presented the document and stressed that the bill on "Culture" defines the basic principles of the country's cultural policy, legal, social, and economic foundations to organize cultural activity, the status of cultural employees. It plays the role of the legal framework in this sphere.
During the discussions, MP Ilyas Ismailov said that the Azerbaijani monuments of culture and art, located in different parts of the world, must be brought to Azerbaijan, because they cause a very great interest among tourists.
MP Leyla Abdullayeva also made this proposal. MP Elmira Ahundova said that this law does not fully cover economic activity in the field of culture. She said that creative unions must be exempt from income tax.
According to the relevant agreement, the cultural objects exported and imported within the CIS, are exempt from customs duties, Akhundova said. The law consists of 9 chapters and 46 articles.
