Armenia carries out a militaristic policy, creates conflicts with the countries of the region and threatens the security of Southern Caucasus, Eurasia and the whole world, the Head of Department on Social Political Issues of Presidential Administration of the country Ali Hasanov told journalists, expressing his attitude toward non-constructive performances of the Armenian MPs at the Euronest session held in Baku.
The second Euronest PA second session opened in Baku on Monday. Meetings of standing committees and a working group on Belarus, as well as the plenary session were held.
Documents prepared by committees, together with supplements and amendments to be adopted as resolutions were discussed.
The EU delegation of 60 people nd the national delegations of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia attended the Baku session. The Euronest inter-parliamentary union includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
"For many years already, Azerbaijan wants to inform the world about the fact that people representing Armenia take non-constructive position and that Armenia acts with territorial claims to the neighboring countries," Hasanov said.
He noted with regret that there is such a state as Armenia among the countries such as Azerbaijan and Georgia, which take into account interests of their neighbors and want to live in peace.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
