‘New wave of emigration will hit Armenia’

06 March 2012 [15:08] - TODAY.AZ
“The Armenians vote with their feet and fled from Armenia,” Political scientist Vafa Guluzade said, commenting on reports that the fabricated elections in Armenia will be followed by a new wave of emigration from the country.

He believes migration from Armenia is of traditional character and still keeps its tendency.
"Those Armenians who have the opportunity leave the country.  Already half of the population fled the country. For example, particularly strict laws regarding the departure of young people outside of Nagorno-Karabakh led to the exodus of young Armenians from the occupied territories. Armenia, being under the absolute influence of Russia, found itself in the unenviable economic situation, the country is morally suppressed and lacks any prospects,” he said.

Armenia needs a peace with Azerbaijan, opening of the borders with Turkey, as well as withdrawal of Russia from its territory.

"Armenia itself does not protect its borders due to the fact that it is surrounded by the Russian border guards and constrained by an alliance treaty with Russia. Tiny flea concluded a military alliance with the elephant," he said. Guluzade said Armenia is an abnormal country in the abnormal situation.
