'French President defeated'

Repeal of a law criminalizing denial of the so-called "Armenian genocide" by the Constitutional Council of France means defeat of the French President, member of the Senate Commission for International Affairs Nathalie Goulet told Trend.

"It is a defeat of the President of the Republic, who did not want follow the advice of the experienced lawyers and wished to turn a parliament into a tool," Goulet said.

Goulet stressed that the Constitutional Council of France recognized the arguments of the parliamentarians opposing this legislation and signed the appeal that the "Armenian genocide" law borders on censorship.
