Kiev to honor Azerbaijani vice-admiral

A bust to Azerbaijani vice-admiral Ibrahim Aslanbayov will be soon erected in the Alley of Honors in Kiev. The initiators are Azerbaijan embassy to Ukraine and Union of war veterans of the naval forces after Lazarev.

Aslanbayov had graduated with honors from Saint-Petersburg Naval Cadet Corps in 1837. He started his military career by serving in the Baltic, Black Sea and Aral Fleets. From 1879-1882, Aslanbayov was a commander of the Russian Naval Forces in the Pacific Ocean. He obtained a rank of the vice-admiral in 1887. He was awarded with the highest Russian and foreign prizes.
