‘Iran should always remember about Azerbaijani factor’

21 January 2012 [14:17] - TODAY.AZ
Expert Rasim Agayev believes like many regimes that come to power through the revolution, Iran's leadership wants to export the revolution beyond the state. He commented on anti-Azerbaijani campaign in the Iranian media.

He said the Iranian authorities see themselves as the ideological leaders of the Muslim world. Iran's influence is very great on countries, where the majority of the population is Shiite - Syria and Iraq.

"Iran's influence is felt in some segments of the Azerbaijani society. Tehran carries out ideological expansion abroad and this is aimed to spread the Islamic revolution. However, this ideological expansion becomes more aggressive at critical moments in. Perhaps, now is a critical moment," Agayev noted.

Azerbaijan, Agayev stressed, establishes relations with many countries. "We have good relations, for example, with Israel. Yes, Iran dissatisfied over this. Tehran wills us to pursue
a different policy. But, Iran should not forget the situation if faced. The international coalition is being formed against Iran. For example, Zbigniew Brzezinski openly spoke about the project in the Middle East, in which Iran would be dismembered.

In this regard, one should always remember about the Azerbaijani factor. Tehran would have better to some to stronger agreement with Baku regarding information disseminated by the Iranian media. I believe common grounds can be found in this issue,” he said.
